Skip counting

I am learning to skip count in 5s.  Next I will be try skip counting on from a number.

Reading Eggs

I am learning to sound out 3 letter words by saying all the sounds and blending them together.  Reading Eggs helps me to reinforce my learning.

Acrostic poem

I am learning how to write an acrostic poem.  I know that I start each sentence with a letter of the subject.  I wrote about myself. 

"I am proud of my story writing. I like writing long sentences. I've got to remember fullstops and then you do a capital." Tyrell

Bird pillow

For our Art Exhibition this year we learnt how to sketch a bird.  The final drawing was transferred onto calico and dye was added.  The bird was glued onto a pillow that Mrs Scott and Mrs Worsfold had sewn.  Don't they look great!

I am learning to sound out 3 letter words.

I am learning to say the first, middle and last sound in a word and then blend the sounds together to write the word.  This can help me in my reading and my writing.

Fathers day gift making

Tyrell said, " I can robot words and I can write more sentences."

I am learning to write number sentences to 10

I am learning to write number sentences to 10 and use this knowledge, when I play games, to solve problems in my head.

"  I can put the biggest number in my head and count on." said Tyrell

We are learning to write for an audience and publish quality work to share.

" My buddy reads to me and I read back to them. My buddy is nice to me."

I am learning to make the beginning and end sounds

I am learning to make the beginning and end sounds in unknown words.  I need to get my mouth ready to make the sound and this activity helps me remember.

"I can read all by myself.  I can look at the pictures." said Tyrell

I am learning to count on from a number

 Tyrell, you are able to read on from any number up to 20. Next we will be working on ordering numbers to 20 and above.

"I can count on from 5 or 10. I can count to 100 by myself." said Tyrell

Elm Park 50th Birthday Party

We launched our Celebration Inquiry with a huge party for Elm Park School. This year our school will turn 50! We had a great day with our school friends and our whanau.

Tyrell said, " I found the treasure fast. I loved the party and I hope we have another party."

I am learning to form my numerals correctly.

I am learning to write my numbers around the right way.  I am able to write up to 14 correctly. I am learning to form 2 correctly.

Tyrell said," I think the number 12 is a bit tricky. I am trying to do learning."

I am learning to make the first sound in new words.

I am learning to get my mouth ready for the first sound. I can make the sound now that I know my alphabet sounds.

Tyrell said, "I am trying to read. I am good at pointing to the words. It is my favourite."

I am learning about water safety

 

I am learning to enter and exit the pool safely.

I am learning to blow bubbles and get my head wet.

I am learning to manage myself and get changed independently.

The whole class got a lot quicker at getting ready!

Tyrell said," I am so clever at pushing the ball. I like the water can on my hair. It is like the rain."

Tyrell said, "I like my picture and my sticker and the finger spaces!"
